QLD Government Project Image
A large, colourful, sprawling display designed to highlight state government involvement in day-to-day life, targeted towards the youth and children.

We were approached by our industry partner, Nigel Fletcher of Fletcher Design, to collaborate on a tender to develop a display for the Qld State Government zone in the R.I.C.C. building at the Queensland Ekka 2018.

The brief was to design and build a display for a sprawling site that covered a large concourse area and several rooms. The challenge was showcasing a consistent theme across 18 state government departments and 12 divisions of Queensland Police. To achieve this we sized the department displays the same and allocated a separate space for the Queensland Police. By also implementing an overall government brand, the large site had a natural rhythm and flow for attendees adding to the overall experience, giving the site a ‘Queensland Government Precinct’ feel.

The participating government departments and police were open to creating fun and interesting displays to help keep the young engaged but also wanted to maintain a serious and helpful message. Many of the departments engaged in giveaway programs to encourage interaction so we designed and installed moving or electronic games that encouraged the young to participate and engage with the department volunteers.

The display was carefully laid out to engage patrons with a combination of excitement, curiosity and colour, along with tactile and physical engagement. The result was an an incredibly popular and busy display that had record numbers of participants. The feedback we received from the participants and client was very positive.
